Thomas Hesse
Died February 2009
The
Tidewater Chapter of ARMA International wishes to remember Colonel Thomas Michael Hesse, United States
Army, Retired, a vital member of the Records Management Community in the
Hampton Roads area of Virginia..
In the military Mr. Hesse served as an airborne
ranger and artilleryman at posts throughout the United States and overseas.
Assignments included tours in Korea,
Vietnam, Ansbach,
Germany and later, West Berlin, Germany.
In 1976, he attended Syracuse
University and obtained a
Masters in Business Administration as a part of the Army's Comptrollership
Program. The highlight of his service was West Berlin
where he served as Comptroller for all U.S. Forces.
After
retiring from 24 years of service to his country, Tom successfully started and
operated two businesses in the Tidewater, VA area. One of those, Lion Heart
Records Management Services, Inc., which he operated for ten years, brought him
into the business of Records Management.
Mr. Hesse
was a member of the Tidewater Chapter of ARMA from 1994 – 2006, when he retired
from his business. Mr. Hesse served two
terms as Treasurer of the Chapter and held the distinction of being a "Chapter Member
of the Year”. Mr. Hesse was also very active
on the Chapter’s Seminar and Audit Committees and served as the Chapter
Librarian for many years. "It is
important to note that Mr. Hesse was a great asset to the chapter and served as
a mentor and friend to many chapter members. As a retired former member he has
been and will continue to be missed by our many chapter members."
