Linda Perry
Passed away February 9, 2009
At
the time of her passing in 2009, Linda Perry was President and Founder
of Focal Point Solutions, Richland Hills, Texas. Ms. Perry
started her career in the RIM industry in 1985 as a salesperson for a
local service bureau. From 1989 to 1990 she worked in the Marketing
Department of BMS Catastrophe where she traveled across the United
States and Canada speaking on the subject of Disaster Recovery and
Contingency Planning. Ms. Perry founded Information Technologies
of America, Inc. in 1991. Through her direction, ITA, Inc. grew to
become a $1,000,000 + records management company. She sold this company
to a publicly owned company, ImageMax, in 1997, where she continued to
work for the next 4 years. In August, 2001 Ms. Perry founded her
current company Focal Point Solutions, Inc. Under Ms.
Perry’s direction and management Focal Point Solutions has
recovered millions of film-based products, which includes photographs,
microfiche, microfilm and x-rays. Her current company now stores and
manages thousands of vital records for various hospitals and government
organizations plus works as a consultant and business partner company
to two of the largest Disaster Recovery Companies in the World.
She was a member of the ARMA International, the Association of
Information and Image Management (AIIM), and the Southwest
Archivists. She served as President for 2 years of the Ft. Worth
Chapter of ARMA, winning the COTY Award in 2001. She has chaired the
Membership Committee, the Professional Development Committee and was
voted “Member of the Year”. Ms. Perry worked on the
Standards Committee of ARMA International and helped to develop
guidelines and standards for technical publications such as: "Vital
Records", “Numeric Filing”, “Criteria for
Developing/Evaluating Records Management Software” and
“Guidelines for Managing Email”. Ms. Perry was
considered an expert in the document management and media recovery
field, and was a frequent lecturer at meetings, seminars and
workshops. Linda also served on the Board of Directors of the
ARMA Dallas Chapter as the Past President and VP of Professional
Development..
